Saturday Share: You are Marvelous

Happy sunshine Saturday! 

Today's post is a handmade card I did during my day off. 

I stamped a lot of this cute little puppy images by Some Odd Girl Hispter Pet Clear Stamp set a while back when I was practicing my stamping. The foxy and kitten on this stamp set are stinkin' cute too, I can't wait to play with them on my next project.

The stamped cloud images and stripes patterned paper are leftover from my previous handmade card project, so basically the only thing 'new' on this card is the sentiment (Incredible by Ali Edwards, Technique Tuesday).

Took me some time to color the puppy, the hat and the bright red bow-tie. I decided to stamp the sentiment in blue to match the clouds above. This card was done within 15 minutes, and it is so darn cute! Now, I just need to figure out who to send the card to LOL

Happy Saturday, my dear scrappy friends! And welcome back to another week of Saturday Share.

This week's layout is a bit special, because it has no story. The photo for this layout was taken a few years back in Sydney, when I was at Bondi Beach and they were having this Sculpture by the Sea Exhibition. I really liked and enjoyed the exhibition, but I did not get to see all of the art pieces on displayed because it was freezing cold, and my camera just ran out of battery!

Before my camera died, I managed to capture this piece by Kathy Allam, a Happy Floating Dream Cloud made entirely of colorful children's toys. It is so beautiful, I decided to have it print out, even though I have no idea what to do with the photo. 

Fast forward 2 years, I have finally decided to scrapbook the photo, without a story, but with one of my favorite quotes.

The quote by Mark Twain at the beginning of this post is one of my favorites, but it is too long and impossible to squeeze every word on my layout, so I decided to use only the last part of the quote, "Explore. Dream. Discover."

Planner Nerd Wednesday: Hello, Kikki K Lilac Planner

I have finally decided to sit down and make a blog post about my Kikki K Lilac Time Planner!

I wasn't planning to get this Lilac Planner (or any planner, really, though I've been eyeing this gorgeous for some time) because of the price. Then I saw the 50% off deal on Kikki K website, I just couldn't resist! And I received the package in a few days time, I was thrilled!

I have posted a few photos on Instagram when I received the planner, but I have not formally introduce the planner here on my blog.

Yes, I bought the gift bag for myself >.<

This planner comes with inserts and dividers of its own, but I am only using the Weekly View and Expenses Inserts. The remaining inserts and dividers are all in my old planner (which I have abandoned >.< ).

Took me some time to set up because I was thinking what sections I want to have in the planner. Basically I migrated everything in my old planner into my Lilac, and added a few extra sections. My old planner has limited space, one of the reasons why I wanted a new planner so badly.

I don't have a bunch of things in the pockets, just a few pretty and cute sticker sheets, and my colorful sticky flags that I used for color coding my appointments and to dos.

Migrated this front page from my old planner, along with the 'Life is Beautiful' Project Life card.

I am using the same 2015 Year Planner and Monthly Planner which I bought earlier this year. The Year Planner is used to record my family and close friends' birthday. I really can't remember their birthday, so thank you, Facebook reminder!

I made this page marker from a Project Life card and some vellum, and I wrote down some favorite quotes and placed them on the page marker.

And I have a daily To Do reminder that I never followed through, and some monthly trackers, right after my page marker.

I have divided my Lilac into 6 sections for now. 

• The Monthly Planning section
• Daily Journaling section which uses the Weekly View Inserts by Kikki K, along with Weekly To Do insert that I decorate myself
• Weekly Art Journal section where I doodle and draw some highlighted events or random things for the week
• Finance section, for my expenses record and monthly review
• Craft section, which mostly is for my stamping and coloring indexing
• Misc. section for other random stuffs, like list of books I have read for the year, movies I have watched, wish list and etc.

This planner is solely for my personal life planning, and I really enjoy making and decorating the Weekly To Do list, but maybe not so much on executing the tasks on the list hahaha

Since I have the Weekly View Inserts that comes with Lilac, I will not be making any more weekly inserts like I used to. Instead, I will be making a one-page Weekly To Do List with some random stuffs. That really cuts down a lot of time I used to decorating the weekly inserts.

The Weekly Art Journal section was not something that I have planned. Art journaling isn't really my thing, but after seeing a lot of inspiring and pretty art journal on Instagram, I thought I should give it a try.

The other sections are pretty much boring. The Finance only records my expenses, the not-so-in-use Craft section which I hope one day will be fully utilized for some serious crafty jobs, and lastly my still-under-'construction' Misc. section.

So far I am very happy with this set up, and even made my own travel themed dividers. I am thinking of adding another section too, or maybe just a few simple dashboards, to collect all my favorite quotes in one place.

This whole planner thingy has really changed my previously highly unorganized life into a somewhat organized life. It's always good to have a plan in mind, but even better when your plans are written on colorful inserts and decorated with pretty stickers. Sometimes I would just flipped through my planner mindlessly just for fun. Sometimes, after a tiring workday, I felt like I should just hug my Lilac to sleep.

I may not own a lot of fancy planners, but I know I have one that I have spent a lot of time and energy and creativity into making it my very own perfect planner.

Saturday Share: Sending You the Warmest of Thoughts

Hello, dear friends. 

A bit late on my Saturday Share this week. I had to work late everyday for the past week, and also on the weekend. My new job is getting hectic and challenging, but that's how I like it.

Back to this week's Saturday Share. I made a card using an old freebie stamp set by Adam Pescott, along with Simon Says Stamp Absolutely Delightful Clear Stamp. The puppy image is one of my favorites, and I paired it with a simple greeting.

The grey patterned paper is by Studio Calico's Story Time Collection. Some twine, a heart-shaped punch out and a heart-shaped felt sticker are all I used on this simple card.

Special Edition: Let's Get Sketchy Design Team Call

Hello, everyone! 

This irregular blog post is a special announcement on the Design Team Call of Let's Get Sketchy. It's my second time applying for their DT call, I hope I can get the chance to join all the lovely ladies on board.

They have come up with two sketches for the DT call challenge, and I have chosen the one shown below.

This is absolutely NOT my usual scrapbooking style, but oh my, the fun I had playing with this sketch. And I DO love the layout I did for this, I think it's awesome. :">

I ♥ the color combo that I have chosen for this layout, a neutral kraft background with pops of reds and yellows.

Tuck in!

I was going to title this layout 'Good Food, Great Company', but that really sounded quite bored and lame. Then I remembered this phrase, tuck in. Had to Google search to make sure it has the right meaning. :p

Saturday Share: 63rd Birthday

Hello, dear friends! Happy Saturday, and welcome to another week of Saturday Share.

This week's layout is of my father's birthday 2 years ago. It was just a simple celebration at home, but with his favorite grandchildren all by his side, I think one couldn't ask for more.

When I first saw this colorful numbers patterned paper by Becky Higgins, I knew I would want to use it on a birthday layout. I paired it with another same pattern but kinda tone-on-tone paper of the same collection to bring the focus onto the main cluster of the layout. 

I added another red polka dot patterned paper and outlined the edges with a black pen. The chipboard letter stickers is my current favorite. I have used that on my previous layout, Fairy Tale Like too. 

I only added a little bit embellishments on this layout, since the background paper itself is quite busy.

The glitter 'Celebrate' letter stickers were a last minute addition. Usually I wouldn't use such glittery and colorful embellishments on a manly layout, but I think the glittery pastel matches with the colorful background paper. Some washi and some stickers, a happy layout is done!

I am currently making a scrapbook album for my family. I know they do not know how to appreciate it (yet!), but I believe there will be a day that these precious memories that are captured and scrapbooked will be treasured. Until the day comes, I will keep on being the memory keepers for my family, and hopefully someday, for the family of my own.

Saturday Share: Fairy Tale Like

Happy Saturday!

Welcome to another week of Saturday Share of Scrapbooking Layout. This week's layout is a combination of Stuck?! Sketches and Picture This!! challenges. 

Stuck?! Sketches March 1st Challenge

The March 1st Challenge for Picture This!! is a combination of 1 Photo + Circles + Tilt, which I think is a fun combo.

I have not made any layouts for almost a month, and really needed some starting point, which is why I have chosen to take up some challenges to kick start my engine. Though I gotta confess, this layout took me almost 3 hours, but I wasn't in any hurry, so that was fine for me.

1 Photo + Circles + Tilt

This layout is a simple one photo layout, featuring the very lovely and fairy tale-like London Tower Bridge. We didn't have time to visit the bridge up close, but was close enough to take a few photos of the bridge after our visit to Tower of London.

Took me some time to decorate the area around the title, as I was trying to bring the elements on the photo cluster up to the title area. Finally came up with something I am happy with.

The Stuck?! Sketches has some decorated vellum elements on the layout, but I only have plain vellum. I decided to add some patterns on the vellum using some chalk ink and a Roller Doodle. It's just a simple details, but without it the vellum seems to blend in with the background paper.

I also did not use any embellishments on this layout, only some washi tape and punches to create the embellishments cluster. That was because I took too much time with the major elements of this layout, and if I were to embellish it further, it might take another hour.

Saturday Share: Cupcake Celebration

Hello, dear friends. Happy Chinese New Year and welcome to another week of Saturday Share. 

How was your week so far? 

I had a hectic one. The workload of my day job seems to be forever increasing, and my New Year Resolution of a photo a day on Instagram forces motivates me to create something everyday. It does drive me crazy and on edge sometimes :-ss But crafting seems to be an important part of my life now, and I like how that pushes me to get better on other areas of my life, like time management, prioritizing and planning. 

This week's layout was done under 90 minutes at 2 o'clock in the morning on a Sunday after I had my weekly badminton + supper with my girlfriends. I was actually quite tired, but I kept telling myself 'Gotta get at least one layout done so I can photograph it in the morning', and so I did. Even I am amazed with my own determination :-o

This layout came together easily because I decided to use neutral colors with pink and baby blue combo. That has shorten the time I needed on picking patterned papers and matching their colors. Then I took my scrap papers folder and picked out the papers.

The scrap papers that I chose were the perfect size for the layout. Even the triangle vellum fits in perfectly.

The title for this layout magically appeared in my mind when I took these photos out. I like the peach and aqua letter stickers mixture, just like the layout I did for Melon Bun.

I used Simple Stories Stickers for embellishing, adding some details here and there to cover up those awkward edges.

Decided to add a little something up on the corner right before I 'declare' this layout done.

Saturday Share: Like Mother Like Daughter

Happy Saturday! Welcome to another week of Saturday Share.

Today I will be sharing a layout that I created using Stuck?! Sketches February 1st Challenge. They are currently having a DT call too, so if you're interested, hop over to their blog and join in the fun. The DT call is open until February 28th.

Back to my layout. I used neutral colors for the background of the layout, and reds and blues for layering and embellishing. That makes the main cluster of my layout more lively and stands out from the background.

The photo of this layout featured my eldest sister and her daughter, and I titled it 'Like Mother Like Daughter'.

The final look

I love the final look of the layout, and I am glad I have chosen this frames patterned paper as my background. I was going to use a pink or red background, but I think the effect would make the overall look of the layout not as outstanding as this combo.
