Hello Handsome

Happy Saturday!! Sharing another layout today, which I made back in March.

It's another fairly simple layout, and I love it very much! Or should I say I love my little nephew very much, he is the sweetest thing (when he's not throwing a tantrum LOL).

I thought I would not have a chance to use that 'Hello Handsome' cut apart, but seeing these photos, I know I have found the perfect match for that. And surprisingly, the flair badge's color absolutely match with the cut apart! Awesome, awesome.

Simple decoration with stickers at the bottom corner, on a 3x4 Project Life card.

Well, Hello handsome boy!

This is another layout that I did not use any letter stickers for the title (just realized that). I love using letter stickers actually, but seeing that the cut apart sheet and the flair badge made the perfect title for this layout, I do not need to use any. By the way, I spelled my cute little nephew's name wrong, THREE times. I'm a terrible aunt *ashamed*

You & Me

Hello hello, Happy Wednesday!

Today I am going to present a new layout that I just did yesterday, for the Let's Get Sketchy April Week 3 Challenge. I love this week's sketch, and I think it is a great sketch if you want to showcase a pretty patterned paper. That was what I thought I was going to do, but after choosing the photo for the layout, I decided to use a dark plain cardstock instead.

♥ Pretty Photo Overlay

The photo was taken by me, and I am loving the couple tees that my brother and SIL were wearing in that photo, super cute!

This is another layout that would fit into the minimalist style in my book, but even so, it took me 2 hours to get it done!! I can't seem to decide which patterned papers to use (I have chosen at least 7 for this layout *shrug*), then I did not know what title I should use on this layout (but I pulled out half a dozen letter stickers, again *rolled eyes*).

At the end, I only used 3 patterned papers and some simple embellishments for this layout. Not really impressed when I get it done yesterday, because I got angry with myself for being indecisive and grumpy because I am actually quite tired from work. I gave up on giving it a title too, LOL. That was when I decided to let the layout 'sit' for a day and come back to it later.

This afternoon while I was daydreaming during working hour, I thought of my one and only Heidi Swapp Mustard Color Shine, and voila, a simple but great idea arises! I came back home from work and took the mist out, sprinkling it diagonally from one corner to the other. Gotta say it definitely look better with the mist.

This week has been moving slowly for me, and I can't wait for the weekend to arrive! I really do need to spend more time crafting instead of browsing all the awesome layouts made by others on their blog, Instagram or Pinterest!

What in the World is Scrapbook?

When I started this scrapbook thing, my family had no idea what it is, or what is the point of it. All they can see and understand is that I spend a lot of money on this hobby, and I shut myself in my room every weekend and make a mess in the room.

That was before I started posting my layouts on social media and constantly hiding my finished layouts underneath a whole bunch of patterned papers. I think one of my sister actually googled what scrapbook is, so she is the only one (at first) who understands what I do and did not ask any question. Then my sister in law started asking questions, and she is quite amazed because she loves handmade stuffs. That is when I decided to let them know what it is all about by posting some of my finished layouts on Facebook. Of course, they have no reason to object whatever hobby I have, just that maybe I have to constantly lie about the amount of money I spend on it. *guilty*

Then, I have friends that asked the same question. Scrapbook, what is scrapbook?

I remember I came across an explanation on the net made by a fellow scrapbooker, she said she would explain it as 'it's just like blogging, you take pictures and write stories about it and post it online. Instead of posting it on a blog, scrapbooker print out the pictures, write down the stories and decorate them on a 12x12 canvas'. I think that is the closest that one can explain what scrapbook is.

However, my family does not blog, and only a handful of my friends do, so I would explain it using social media, like Facebook or Instagram. For example, you are at some place or event, and you take a picture, put some caption or write a short paragraph about the picture, and you post it on social media. Or for those who knows what a photobook is, I would use that analogy. However, I would add that instead of using the fixed format of a social media news feed or photobook, I prefer to decorate the pages my own way.

By the end of the day, the purpose of them posting on a blog or any social media and us, scrapbookers making a layout, is the same. We are preserving memories, we are sharing stories. The difference will be that a layout or a scrapbook album can be passed down, while a blog or social media will only exist as long as the platform exists.

And to me, the most beautiful thing about scrapbook is that, instead of giving someone a gift, I am giving them a memory to be kept, forever. This, is what scrapbook is all about.

Looking Fabulous

Hello peeps, happy Sunday! I am sharing another layout with you today, which is about the fabulously awesome me, haha! If I am not mistaken, I based this layout from one of the scrapbook challenge blog but I did not get it blog in time for the challenge. Well, that is how 'efficient' I am. *shrug*

Excuse the blurriness >.<

Looking Fabulous, indeed

I love love love the polka dot paper and decided to use it for something special, which is me, hahaha! Then I bought the glittery red letter stickers which is totally not my style, but I know would look good on such layout. I have the pretty pink and red hearts on cream patterned paper, and the cute banner stickers at the bottom. All of these are supplies that I love very much and I put it all on this layout. I would say this is a minimalist layout for me, usually I will have clusters of embellishments here and there, but this one, I wanted to keep it simple and following the sketch closely. Aaaand I LOVE IT (even though I look stupid in the photo, but that is the real me, looking goofy all the time while others are on their strikingly best prettiest looks)

I am really glad I get to stay at home and rest today, I have been way too outgoing for the past couple of weeks, and that resulting an overly-exhausted me. I still have not get any new layout done, but I have been doing my pocket pages for my Kyoto-Osaka trip back in 2012. I do have to be honest and say that I am starting to fall in love with this pocket pages concept, it really is a very very easy and convenient way to document travel photos, especially when you have a whole lot.

National Scrapbook Day is around the corner (mark your calender, it is on the 3rd of May in case you do not know), and I am going to join Big Picture Classes and Studio Calico this year for their 10k 'scrapbook run'! I have chosen a few photos that I will be scrapbooking on that day. Hoping to see all the talented ladies (and gents, if there is any) and their layouts on that day!

Snake Temple & Hot Spring

First of all, I would like to apologize to my non-existence readers. I'm sorry I've been away for so long, but there were things that I wanted to think through, and I felt I really needed a break from.. everything, really. For the past 2 months, I only scrapped occasionally, did a few layouts (3, to be exact), and few pocket pages. Things (or maybe I) have gotten better, and I think I should get back to scrapbooking, one baby step at a time =)

Today I'm sharing 2 layouts here, and they are actually based on the same sketch I used for the Let's Get Sketchy Challenge for January Week 3 layout, Kek Lok Si. These few layouts are about the same trip that I took with my parents back in 2010. (Glad to say other than the hairstyle, I still look the same =P) Each time I used the sketch, I improvised a little bit, but the basic idea of 2 photos and a strip (or two) of patterned paper across at the middle remained, as well as the diagonally decorated corners.

Finally get to use this fabric stickers!
